Significance of Antioxidants for You Eyes

Every day we see our friends, relatives, things around us and do not even think that it is our eyes that let us see all these things. Our eyes work so hard and as any other part of our body they need to be taken care of.

What are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are substances that neutralize free radicals in our body. Free radicals are the molecules that lack one or more electrons at once. Free radicals steal these electrons from the healthy molecules in our body. As a result, human health suffers, as its cells become unable to perform their functions properly. The body experiences so-called oxidative stress.

In terms of eyes, free radicals can lead to the appearance of several diseases, such as cataract and macular degeneration that are the most common causes of eyesight worsening.
