Psoriasis Symptoms

Psoriasis is a very unpleasant condition which causes are not yet clearly discovered. This illness does make a lot of people feel awkward about the way they look as psoriasis symptoms are not really pleasant. There are several types of the disorder and here they will be discussed.

The first type of psoriasis is non-pustular. It is also called psoriasis vulgaris. This type of the illness can be met in the majority of patients with psoriasis symptoms. They are characterized by the appearance of localized plaques and in severe cases with plaques that cover most of the body. Plaques represent inflamed areas of raised scaly and reddish skin. It is also possible that a person develops another non-pustular psoriasis type – psoriatic erythroderma. Inflammation and sloughing of large skin areas characterize this condition. It can be accompanied with itching and swelling as well.

Psoriatic erythroderma can be characterized as one of the aggravated psoriasis symptoms in its severe form. It can be the result of some pretty strong drug administration that was taken and stopped abruptly. This is some kind of response from the organism.

Next type of psoriasis is pustular. Psoriasis symptoms in this case include skin elevated bumps widely known as pustules. They contain pus and are unpleasantly looking. However, there is no danger from them. The disease, as it is, is not contagious and there is no threat to surrounding people. However, pustules tend to cause inflammation in the under layer of skin which is fraught with other complications.

Psoriasis symptoms can be a result of different reasons and therefore have different manifestations. Drug induced psoriasis is also frequent as well as inverse and guttate psoriasis. Pustules here are usually smaller and appear in pink color all over the body. Nail psoriasis symptoms can be met as well which generally leads to deterioration of nails. Psoriatic arthritis is also frequent and it tends to affect joints and connective tissues.

Scalp psoriasis is perhaps, the best known from all. Not only it is rather unpleasant as it causes itching but it also creates an impression that a person has got a very severe case of dandruff. A lot of people suffer from such psoriasis symptoms very badly. It is possible to alleviate the condition with some medications and special cosmetic and medical preparations; however, the condition is still not completely treatable.
