Acne Types Facts

Acne is universally known as a very unpleasant condition. They can be so severe as to diminish your self-esteem to the lowest point possible. Mild acne is not such a great problem; however acne types are different and they may need different approach in treatment.

There are basically four acne types that differ in the manifestation of symptoms as well as cause. They also vary depending on a person’s age. It is important to understand the difference and approach the treatment wisely.

The first among acne types is neonatal or baby acne. It may seem strange but parents actually confirm that about 20% of babies have got acne. It manifests in the form of a rush when a baby is 3 weeks old and can develop into small pimples white in color on red cheeks. Baby acne is nothing to worry about. It tends to go away very soon. However, in case it does not, it is recommended to apply for an advice of a therapist. This type of acne is not exactly studied, or better to say, its causes are not exactly clear. Actually, it is believed that acne is evoked by the excessive amount of hormones that a baby gets from a mother at birth.

Next in the list of acne types is teenage one. This is perhaps, the most dreadful one. It befalls onto such a trying period and if the symptoms are severe, it may affect a teenager’s life very negatively. The most unpleasant thing is that the period of this acne type lasts up to a person’s twenties and even then not everyone recovers completely. The condition can manifest itself very eloquently with pimples and blackheads all over the face and at the back and on the other parts of the body even. They can be very excessive and unpleasant-looking. Teenage acne is mostly evoked by hormonal fluctuations as a teenager goes through the period of puberty. These fluctuations are fraught with alternations in the appearance of skin and body and almost every kid has to face the problem; though to the different extent. Among all the acne types this one is perhaps the worst taking into consideration that kids form and develop an attitude to themselves and their appearance at this age.

If we move forward on the age scale of acne types, we come to an adult one. The reasons are not exactly clear but it is either people whose teenage phase of acne is going on for too long, or women who used to take contraceptives and terminate the administration; or else. All in all it is believed that it is hormones that are responsible for the appearance of acne in adults. The symptoms are not as wild as they are frequently met in teenagers and they are mostly treated with non-prescription drugs. However, in rare cases when hormonal balance should be restored, prescription medications can be suggested.

The last among acne types is Rosacea acne. It is not so frequent as regular acne and is mostly met in women. Opposite to regular acne types, it appears on the face only and is characterized by redness and blotches that are rather unpleasant-looking.

It is hard to recommend any ideal option for the treatment of all acne types. There are some peculiarities for every type and baby acne cannot be treated by means of adult acne products. However, other acne types can be pretty effectively helped with the products that are broadly available. There are especially many teenage cosmetic products that claim to alleviate acne symptoms; and many of them do really work. At least they make a person’s life more pleasant and not in the need to wait until 20 for all the horror to end up.
