The main kidney function is to filter waste and excessive water, and remove toxins from the body.
Kidneys help to maintain electrolytes as well as some other fluids balance in the body. If a person has a kidney disorder, it is hard for kidneys to perform their functions and this can lead to kidney failure. Dietary changes are necessary for such cases. You are to lower the consumption of sodium, potassium, proteins, phosphorus. People with kidney problems are to cut down on the consumption of tomatoes, squash, nuts, avocados, soups, salted snacks, nuts, deli meats, table salt, beans, peas, milk, cheese, fish, eggs and some other. Stir fried Vegetables
- sliced zucchini – 1
- sliced green pepper – 1
- sliced yellow pepper – 1
- sweet corn – 1 cup
- extra virgin olive oil – 2tsp
- garlic – 1 clove
- lime (juice from half a lime)
- chopped parsley
- pepper (freshly ground) 1 tsp
Heat some extra virgin olive oil. Add minced garlic. It should sizzle for 1 minute. When it becomes golden, put sliced yellow and green pepper together with zucchini. When these vegetables get tender put some sweet corn. Fry it for 8 to 10 min. Remove it from flame and dress with pepper, lime juice and salt. In the end place a sprinkling of parsley.
• farfalle – 2 cups
• extra virgin olive oil- 1 tsp
• spring onions – ? cup
• steamed, shredded tuna – ? cup
• green beans – 1 cup
• mustard paste – 1tsp
• 1 lemon (for juice)
• ground pepper – ? tsp
• basil – 1 teaspoon
• chopped coriander
Cook farfalle pasta in a pot. When pasta gets al dente, remove it from flame and drain in a colander. Pour a little water on pasta so that to prevent from cooking completely. Then blanch beans. Mix extra virgin olive oil, mustard paste, lemon juice, spring onions, coriander and basil in a bowl (medium size). Put farfalle and tuna; mix gently. Dress with salt and ground pepper. Toss the salad. Cover this bowl, and let the pasta salad cool for 1 hour.
Those who suffer from renal diabetes should follow a renal diabetic diet. First of all reduce the intake of salt and sugar, take herbs to substitute salt. Lower dairy products, processed foods (canned beans and chips).
Salmon with stir fried mushrooms
• salmon fillet – 2
• garlic – 2 cloves
• baby spinach – 1 cup
• shitake mushroom – 1 cup
• extra virgin olive oil – 2 tablespoons
• soy sauce – 2 tbsp
• pepper – ? tsp
Add a tbsp of oil to a non stick pan. Fry salmon till it becomes golden on the both sides. Remove it from the pan and leave it for a while. Do not overcook the salmon because it will be dry. Heat extra virgin olive oil in another pan. Fry the garlic in this oil till it gets brown. Put shitake mushrooms adding some pepper and salt and. Then cover with a lid. It should be cooked for about 5 minutes. Add baby spinach; cook for around 3 – 4 minutes till the leaves start wilting. Add two tablespoons of soy sauce. Serving put the salmon on a plate; add stir fried mushrooms together with spinach.
• sliced zucchini – 6
• red onions – 2
• pesto sauce – 4 tablespoons
• parmesan cheese – 2 tbsp
• salt free chicken stock
• extra virgin olive oil – 2 tbsp
Heat some olive oil in a medium frying pan; add sliced onion. When the onion becomes translucent, put some salt along with sliced zucchini. Then cover with a lid; cook till zucchini get tender. Add pesto with chicken stock. It should simmer for about 15 to 20 min. Remove from flame; pure the soup in a blender. Put the pot back to the stove adding parmesan. The water should evaporate till you the required consistency is achieved. Put the seasoning. And the dish is ready to be served.
