3 Ways to Tighten Skin On Face

Your face usually reflects what you are: smiling a lot or being grumpy – whatever emotions you feel and facial expressions you use, wrinkles appear, and the skin becomes loose. Surgery is the last thing to resort to, as it is associated with side effects and expensive. There are other ways you can improve the skin on your face – without ruining the family budget.

Eager to tighten the skin on your face? There is no solution that can turn saggy skin into a masterpiece overnight: it takes patience and assiduousness to achieve results, but the approaches listed below are easy and quite effective – with no or almost no money spent!

#1. Face yoga

No, there is no down dog for your face – at least, not yet. Instead, there is a set of exercises comprising a face workout, which can benefit the skin. A piece of evidence supporting the practice has recently appeared in JAMA: a team of scientists from the US and Thailand carried out a research, in which they asked healthy participants aged 40-65, who were diagnosed with photodamage, which denotes partial face atrophy, to do 32 facial exercises every day for 8 weeks. Each session lasted 30 minutes. Prior to assigning “homework”, the researchers taught the participants how to do the exercises properly. Starting from week 9 up to week 20, they started doing the exercises 3-4 times a week. While there were 27 female participants at the beginning of the study, some of them dropped out, so only 16 women remained involved in the project.

The scientist took photos of the women before and after the experiment. Having compared the photos, they got dermatologists to assess the state of the participants’ skin. It turned out that exercising helped improve fullness of the cheeks and some other aspects of skin condition; on average, the women started looking 3 years younger.

#2. Switch to a healthy diet

Yes, it’s the 9999th time you are advised to eat healthy foods. You can boost collagen in the skin by consuming foods that are rich in antioxidants. These may include olives, avocados, grapes, honey (make sure you are not allergic to pollen!), berries, and citrus fruits. Avoiding fried foods and foods rich in salt and sugar – this is also true of drinks – can help you tighten your skin.

Instead of drinks containing sugar, you can drink pomegranate juice. It is packed with anthocyanins, which can help repair blood vessels. Vitamin C is also important for collagen production. And remember: vitamin C is found not only in oranges; a simple cabbage is even more nutrient-rich!

#3. Drink enough water

If you are dehydrated, there is not enough fluid for the body to use. It can affect your skin too. To prevent it, drink at least 2 l of water a day – this amount does not include tea, coffee, juices or whatever else you like to consume.

With enough moisture, it will be easier for your skin to remain fresh and supple. You can add some fruits or lemon juice into the water to prepare a nice glass of refreshing drink to start you morning with.

The approaches above prove improving skin on the face does not necessarily imply surgery or buying cosmetics that cost a bomb. The good old advice to switch to a healthy lifestyle, which includes but is not limited to eating healthy foods, drinking enough water, and exercising, is beneficial, as far as skin care is concerned.
