Sarcoidosis is a very serious condition. In the lungs it is characterized by the appearance of small cells that look like grains and are invisible for a naked eye.They are known as granulomas and are the reason behind lungs’ improper function. Granulomas look like lumps and it is not exactly cancer. However, sarcoidosis of the lungs is not something to be trifled with. It can manifest itself in two different stages – active and non-active. Active stage is characterized by the further growth of granulomas and also possible development of scar tissue and worsening of the symptoms. In case of the non-active stage of sarcoidosis of the lungs granulomas either reduce in size or stay the same and do not represent a real threat. Sarcoidosis of the lungs is supposed to stem from immune system overreaction for some substances. Another point of view is that people with the condition get it as a result of inheritance of certain genes. However, real reasons are not yet discovered and, unfortunately, the cure hasn’t yet invented.
Sarcoidosis of the lungs is characterized by the appearance of the following symptoms:
- Chest pain is frequent;
- Wheezing sounds when breathing;
- Coughs that are dry;
- Shortness of breath.
TreatmentThe condition is traditionally treated with anti-inflammatory drugs. One of the most frequently used is prednisone. It is unable to cure the condition completely but can alleviate the symptoms. However, it can also be fraught with certain adverse effects such as hypertension and glaucoma as well as diabetes development. There is also hope among the alternative treatment medications. Recently there are a lot of different remedies in the stage of development and testing that are presupposed to help the condition in the future and cure it completely. One of the most popular among them is the treatment plan called The Aden Protocol. It has been tested and proved effective in 30 countries for a period of 22 years and it is reported that the rate of cases of full remission is very high. In a great number of cases the condition improved gradually and this is already and achievement.
There are other options of treatment but so far the optimal and 100% cure has not been found yet. Still, there is hope that scientist and researchers will find a way out to help so many people who suffer from sarcoidosis of the lungs.
